The milestone 30th edition of AOW will see the integration of the Green Energy Africa Summit into AOW, propelling our mission to new heights as we provide an inclusive view of all types of energy opportunities across Africa.
These three decades have seen the world change and go through several crises, prices fluctuations, and geopolitical shifts. AOW has continued to evolve throughout its history to respond to market needs and now unites thousands of African energy stakeholders, including energy and petroleum ministries, regulators, NOCs, utilities, local and international operators, power producers, investors, and service providers.
Our world-class event in Cape Town is the result of decades of experience delivering industry conferences with high-production value and unrivalled networking opportunities. This year we come together for the 30th time to celebrate Africa and mark the grand anniversary of the AOW community.
The milestone 30th edition of AOW will see the integration of the Green Energy Africa Summit into AOW: Investing in African Energy, propelling our mission to new heights as we provide an inclusive view of all types of energy opportunities across Africa, covering renewables integration, responsible exploration and gas monetisation. The green energy transition will form a key pillar of AOW, with the themes ‘Sustainable development of the upstream’ and ‘Integration of renewables and new energies’ set to be prominent within the content agenda. The Energy Investment Village, an exciting deal pitching event for African clean tech start-ups will also take place at #AOW2024.
At AOW:50, Ministers and energy leaders worldwide gathered to discuss strategies and agreements aimed at bolstering the African energy sector with a focus on gas monetization, finance, and decarbonization.
The opening ceremony welcomed the South African Deputy President, His Excellency Mr Paul Mashatile. Government Remarks were also given by Hon. Marcel Abeke, Minister of Oil at the Ministry of Oil & Gas in Gabon, Gwede Mantashe, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, South Africa and Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser on Energy to the President of Nigeria.
Our 2023 edition event featured Country Spotlights from various African nations, including Angola, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, Republic of Congo, Tanzania, South Africa, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Gambia, and Uganda.
The program offered valuable content from diverse forums such as the African Independents Forum, Finance & M&A Forum, Prospect Forum, and the Technology Forum.
Networking receptions, and invitation only diners were organized each evening at picturesque locations across the Cape Town Waterfront.
