Are you keeping track of growing upstream activity in Namibia's Orange Basin?

BW Energy, Shell, TotalEnergies, Galp, Chevron and Woodside Energy have all been increasing upstream activity in Namibia’s Orange Basin as recent discoveries have identified the region with new oil plays.

➡ BW Energy continues to progress the development of the Kudu gas field as a domestic #gastopower project and recently signed a protocol with NamPower to advance the project's feasibility process.

➡ Shell has mobilised the Deepsea Bollsta managed by Odfjell Drilling on PEL 39 where it has already made discoveries at Graff-1, La Rona-1 and Jonker-1. The block is explored in partnership with QatarEnergy and NAMCOR NAMIBIA.

➡ TotalEnergies is mobilising two drilling units on PEL 56 and 91 this year, where it is appraising its Venus discovery and preparing to drill the Nara prospect soon. The license is explored in partnership with QatarEnergy, Impact Oil & Gas and NAMCOR NAMIBIA.

➡ Galp recently signed a 2-well drilling contract for the Hercules rig, expected to start in Q4 2023 and last 115 days.

➡ Woodside Energy is currently in negotiations to acquire operatorship of PEL 87 after entering into an exclusive Option Deed for the license earlier this year. The Block is currently operated by Pancontinental Energy NL and is located north of all current drilling activity.

➡ At the end of 2022, Chevron farmed in PEL 90 and assumed operatorship of the license after making a deal with Sintana Energy Inc. The block is located just north of TotalEnergies' giant Venus discovery and holds significant exploration potential.
