Luca Vignati

Upstream Director, Eni

After graduating with honors in Mining Engineering from University of Bologna in 1988 and joining Eni in 1990, Luca started his career in the reservoir and production department gaining technical competences working in our operations in Italy and abroad for over 10 years.

After a brief outside experience from the energy sector, he returned to Eni in 2008 and expanded his international profile from managerial positions such as Managing Director in Turkmenistan and Egypt, and then several impactful senior management assignments in Kazakhstan, and ultimately responsible for regional upstream business as EVP of Central Asia Region, where he consolidated Eni business positioning in the country and in Central Asia region. He was a driven force in promoting local content developments and in country value creation initiatives.

Once he returned to Eni Headquarters in 2020, Luca was appointed the Head of Commercial Negotiations and then Head of Sub-Saharan Africa Region Upstream Business implementing innovative solutions to create new business opportunities and strengthen the regional upstream portfolio during a challenging scenario, and now leading Eni Upstream business into the energy transition scenario.

Outside of work, Luca is an avid marathon runner whenever possible.
