General Director of Hydrocarbons DGH

ESSE K. Bienvenu is the Managing Director of Hydrocarbons within the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy. 

Since 2018, Mr. ESSE has a long-standing experience in the natural resource industry and has occupied several key positions in the Ivorian public and private sectors.  Prior to its current position, Mr ESSE was the Regional Director of Mines and Geology of Gbôklè, Nawa and San Pedro. In 2021, he was awarded the “National Excellence Award” in recognition of its leadership. 

Mr. ESSE Bienvenu graduated from Cote d’Ivoire’s National Polytechnic School as a Petroleum Engineer. He holds an MBA from the IAE PARIS Sorbonne Business School and the French Institute of Management (IFG), as well as a Master's degree in Management from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.  

Mr ESSE believes that Africa is poised to experience a technological and societal transformation, thanks to a fast-rising access to energy. For Cote d’Ivoire, he aims to empower the Ivorian citizens and their companies with a durable and affordable energy mix.

COTE D’ IVOIRE SPOTLIGHT

This session will be presented by Petroci, DGH to set out the current status of key projects in Cote d`Ivoire and the future outlook as to why Cote d`Ivoire remains an exploration and production destination of choice for the global upstream. Across the session they will provide an update on the significant achievements in the Baleine and Calao fields in Block CI-205. The session will explore the next steps for the sector, focusing on the potential of the Western Offshore region and activities in the Tano Basin.   This will be followed by geological insights on priority licenses.
