Dr. Marion de Wet is a distinguished executive the oil and gas industry with over 20 years of experience in strategic leadership, corporate transformation, and stakeholder engagement. She completed a PhD at the University of Stellenbosch's School of Public Leadership, where her research is titled "Towards an Enabling Policy and Governance Framework for the Sustainable Extraction of Unconventional Natural Gas in South Africa". Amid policy uncertainty, this study investigates the complex interplay of public policy and governance for sustainable unconventional natural gas extraction in South Africa. Advocating for a balanced energy mix, it critically evaluates sustainability, public policy, stakeholder theory, and governance, culminating in an evidence-based ESG-focused policy and governance framework for the orderly and sustainable exploitation of domestic unconventional natural gas. She is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the same institution, furthering her contributions to the field. 

Her extensive qualifications, including Commercial Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, combined with her professional achievements have earned her national recognition. She has been a finalist in multiple business leadership awards and is an Honorary Life Member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, making her a highly respected presenter and thought leader in the industry.
