This session focuses on strategies to improve the bankability of African power and energy projects it also aims to Discussions will explore credit enhancement mechanisms, mezzanine finance options, risk insurance, and the role of regulation, project structuring in attracting financing across power projects and overall funding of the energy transition. We will also delve into the role of sovereign investors with a special mention of areas of interest that align with sovereign investors.

  • What are the key risks associated with energy projects in Africa and how can we address them?

  • How can new business models (embedded, captive etc) help incentivise private sector participation in African energy projects? 

  • What kind of policy frameworks have proven most attractive to make African energy projects more bankable?
