The fundamental question remains: ‘How can the African continent attain sustainability and increase access to modern energy services for its people? This session unites Africa’s energy leaders to share new perspectives and solutions on the role of renewable energy in increasing access to modern energy.

  • How are we increasing the scale and pace of projects and investments?

  • Market design reforms and the future of energy procurement.

This session focuses on strategies to improve the bankability of African power and energy projects it also aims to Discussions will explore credit enhancement mechanisms, mezzanine finance options, risk insurance, and the role of regulation, project structuring in attracting financing across power projects and overall funding of the energy transition. We will also delve into the role of sovereign investors with a special mention of areas of interest that align with sovereign investors.

  • How can new business models (embedded, captive etc) help incentivise private sector participation in African energy projects?

This opening keynote panel will explore Africa's power and energy needs, its role in the global energy transition, and how to attract investment to drive growth. Experts will discuss financing renewable energy projects, navigating Africa's carbon markets (including the VCM environment), and mobilizing capital at scale.

  • What are the most pressing energy challenges facing Africa today? What have been the solutions for mobilising capital at scale?

  • Derisking to attract more capital - what alternatives do we have?
