Africa Oil Week (AOW) is proud to announce that Sasol is this year’s event’s Titanium sponsor.

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA --- Africa Oil Week (AOW) is proud to announce that Sasol is this year’s event’s Titanium sponsor.

Organised by Hyve Group Plc., this unmissable event will take place in the heart of Cape Town, bringing together leading energy stakeholders on the 3-7 October under the theme: Sustainable Growth in a Low Carbon World.

“We’re so excited to welcome Sasol as Titanium sponsor of AOW 2022, and we thank them for their support,” said Paul Sinclair, VP of Energy and Director of Government Relations for Africa Oil Week.

Headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, Sasol is an integrated chemicals and energy company with global presence in more than 20 countries. The company contributes approximately 4 % to South Africa’s GDP and employs nearly 30 000 people. Sasol produces about 20% of the country’s liquid fuels and is a technology pioneer with an advantaged asset base.

At present, Sasol is   leading the energy transition in Southern Africa and is shaping the development of South Africa’s green hydrogen ecosystem. With its decarbonisation journey, it is also positioning the company to deliver sustainable value into the future, and therefore the need for a Just Energy Transition is particularly relevant for the organisation.

The company is undertaking renewables at scale while growing new value pools such as green hydrogen, ensuring competitive and sustainable returns. Natural gas will play a fundamental transitionary energy role requiring regional cooperation and global support.

Sasol’s Energy Business, which is responsible for the management of liquid fuels marketing and sales channels through the Southern African value chain, which includes operations in Mozambique,  is working with local and global partners and investing in innovation and research to support South Africa in positioning itself as a global producer of green hydrogen.

“Sasol is a great addition to Africa Oil Week and we’re thrilled to welcome them back. Their investments in low-carbon initiatives support South Africa’s need to position itself as a global producer of green hydrogen. Their investment in Mozambique has seen excellent socio-economic development,” added Sinclair.
