06 Oct 2023 | Event News

AOW will once again welcome some of Africa’s biggest and most active national oil companies (NOCs) to discuss energy investments, regional cooperation, and public sector dialogue across the continent.

This year’s edition will feature the participation of Chairmen and CEOs of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), the Petroleum Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa (PetroSA), Société nationale d'opérations pétrolières de Côte d'Ivoire (PETROCI), National Oil Corporation of Kenya, PetroSeychelles, PetroGuin E.P., Gambia National Petroleum Corporation, and Guinea’s Société Nationale des Pétroles (SONAP). Additional executives from NNPC, Sonangol, SNPC Congo, and ONHYM will also be present across AOW 2023’s program this year.

Amongst some of the most anticipated discussions and presentations is the MSGBC Regional Showcase, which will be led by Amadou Doumbouya, Director General at SONAP and Celedónio Vieira, General Director at PetroGuin E.P., among others.

Sandisiwe Ncemane, Interim CEO at PetroSA, will participate in the Country Spotlight on South Africa, which will feature all the country’s major players and regulators. Fatoumata Sanogo, PETROCI’s new Director General, will participate in a similar session dedicated to Côte d'Ivoire’s exploration and natural gas development potential.

To speak about gas and regional cooperation, Mohamed Zine, Director of Promotion and Hydrocarbon Asset Management at ONHYM will join a critical conversation on sustainable cross border value creation; while Hon. Amb. Ombeni Sefue, Chairman at TPDC will be part of a dynamic fireside chat around natural gas in Africa.

Last but not least, Opoku-Ahweneeh Danquah, CEO at GNPC Ghana, will deliver an executive presentation on the plenary focusing on current market activity in Ghana and the strategy of GNPC to grow energy investments and expand energy infrastructure in Ghana.

African NOCs’ contribution to the continent’s energy sector has grown year-on-year as they build additional capacity, position themselves as national advocates for their sector, and become critical players on the regional and continental energy scene. Having such a large representation of African NOCs is a tremendous value addition to AOW’s programme and will contribute to pragmatic and solutions-oriented dialogue around Africa’s energy security and future.
